Good versus evil at the arena

There was drama...lots of drama at of all places, the Princeton Arena last Saturday night.

The Great Kasaki gave the audience someone to boo at with his evil antics. Kasaki was caught bending the ASW rules in order to try and beat his opponents.

No there wasn’t a play going on or a play-off hockey game. The drama came courtesy of an All Star Wrestling (ASW) Summer Sizzle Tour. It is not often that wrestling comes to Princeton, so the curious surrounded the ring in anticipation. The tour had more than a handful of interesting characters with Bruiser Joe, Mad Dog, Gorgeous, the Great Kasaki and Disco Fury playing the bad guys and Collin Culter, Kyle Sebastian and Adam Ryder as the good guys. Two ladies also battled it out in the ring - Raven Lake and The Waspette. The wrestling itself is a weird display of choreographed moves and pretend hits mixed in with some slams to the hard floor of the ring and some flips and twists that show off core strength and athleticism. While some of the smashes into the deck sound awful there is one thing worse to see. The men are dressed in nasty outfits that no man should ever wear. Spandex just isn’t pretty. All in all, though, the main desire of the ASW Wrestling matches is to entertain. Disco Fury, Gorgeous and the Great Kasaki definitely did some entertaining, but in the end their evil was not enough to defeat the much more fit Culter, Sebastian and Ryder. The good guys were cheered on to victory by an enthusiastic crowd while the evil forces spent much of their time shouting random insults to their opponent and the audience. Part of the enjoyment for the crowd is the interaction which is encouraged. The evening ended with a Battle Royale in which all the male wrestlers duked it out until only one man was left in the ring. Slowly the wrestlers were thrown out over the top rope onto the arena floor. Kyle Sebastian won the big group battle and the crowd headed home chuckling at what they had just seen.
