The federal muck-and-chuck race is well underway. Those uncommon beasts that want to win the right to carry our political burdens are dressed up in their team colours and running hard. During the parade to the post and even during the race, it can sometimes be difficult to separate the thoroughbreds from the donkeys, the mules and the jackasses.
The team currently out in front is led by an ill-tempered stubborn mule with a history of kicking and biting anything not painted Tory blue. If he doesn’t win this race in convincing fashion, rumour has it that he will be put out to pasture. The sooner the better.
