December 21, 1939 - March 29, 2020
It is with great sadness, that the family of William (Bill) John Gabriel of Princeton BC announces his passing on Sunday, March 29th, 2020 at the age of 80 years. Bill passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side.
Bill was the eldest son of Doris and John Gabriel and born in Princeton General Hospital on December 21, 1939. He was acknowledged by the Town of Princeton on Canada's 150th year as a Princeton Pioneer.
Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years Joann Gabriel (nee Stagg). Loving father to his son Paul, daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Larry Chrobot and his 3 grandchildren Andrew, Kathryn and Lauren - to whom he was affectionately known as Bucky. He is survived by his sister Marilyn (Syd) Price and brother Robert (Cyndy) Gabriel and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill is probably best known for his baking skills at the Home Bakery on Bridge Street where he worked for 25 years. Later in life, he became well known to some as their Handyman. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and travelling and had a strong affection for the Yukon and Australia.
The family would like to thank the many medical staff who helped with Bill's care. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so in a future Celebration of Life.
If friends and family so desire, memorial donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or to the Princeton and District Community Services.
