Derker, Robert (Bob) Richard
August 24, 1935 - April 26, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, brother, father and grandfather Robert (Bob), at home on April 26, 2012.
Bob is predeceased by his mother Hilda, father John and sister Babs.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Pearl, brother Bud (Sandy), daughter Laura (Bob) Charron, sons; Darrell (Shelley), Kelly (Li-an) and by his grandchildren; Andréa, Richard, Breanna, Braden and
Kathryn as well as many relatives and friends.
Bob was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on August 24, 1935. The family relocated to Kelowna where he attended school prior to joining the air force. During this time he met and married Pearl.
After resigning from the air force, they relocated to
Beaverdale where he started his career in mining. Another position was available and he worked in Revelstoke before finally moving to Princeton where he worked as a supervisor until retirement.
Bob was a long standing Legion member attending
parades and events. He was an avid sports fan, both playing and watching. He especially enjoyed curling, golf and fishing as well as many other outdoor activities.
He served as a board member of the Princeton Golf Course, Timberline Cruisers Snowmobile Club and was always willing to lend a hand when needed.
After retiring he took up woodworking crafts, Intarsia being his favourite which won him many ribbons at the Fall Fair.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a family gathering to be determined at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
