Kenneth William Heuser was born in Chicago in 1946, and emigrated to Canada in 1970 with a guitar, 100 LPs, and a suitcase of clothes. He married the love of his life, Anne (nee Dickson) in 1971, and they settled in Vancouver. One fateful day, they fell in love with this beautiful valley as they travelled through it. They bought property and built a home and a life. It was here that they raised 3 children. His peaceful garden and beautifully unpretentious home, which he built with his own hands, continue to reflect the tenacity and authenticity with which Ken approached many things. He was a union activist, an elected school board trustee for 25 years, and was on many committees within the community, including being a founding director of the Princeton & District Skills Center, the Princeton Drug & Alcohol Committee, and the Child & Youth Committee. He coached hockey and basketball for the youth of the community. He worked for 23 years at Weyerhaeuser and enjoyed his retirement by travelling the world. He always had time for his kids and grandkids, always had time for his garden, and always made time for coffee with the boys.
He is survived by his brother Robert (Carol), twin sister Marilyn (Larry), wife Anne, daughters Jessica (Patrick), and Rebecca (Matthew), and his grandchildren: Owen, Benjamin, Eli, Myles, and Emersyn. He is predeceased by his parents Ed & Estelle Heuser, his brother Edward, and his beloved son, Aaron.
A date for Ken's Celebration of Life will be determined in the near future, and will likely be in June, when the garden is in full bloom and the bats are flying around the campfire.
