January 4, 1932 - December 25, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John (Ivan) Budak. Ivan was born in Sveti Rok, Croatia, on January 4, 1932. He passed away on December 25th, 2019. at Ridgewood Lodge in Princeton at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his parents, Frane and Matija and his four siblings in Croatia. He is survived, loved, respected and remembered by his nephews, relatives and friends throughout Canada, Argentina and Croatia.
John emigrated to Canada in 1960, working all across BC and parts of Alberta, but most of his life in Canada was spent living and working in and around Princeton, BC. It was in Princeton that this quiet and gentle man made many friends and acquittances.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Ridgewood Lodge for their support during his stay there.
Prayers will be held at Immaculate Heart of Marry Croatian Church (3105 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver) at 7 pm on Tuesday January 7th, 2020.
John's body will be transferred to his place of birth of Sveti Rok in his native Croatia ("Old Country" as John used to say) for Christian Mass and burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Princeton Legion, where John enjoyed reminiscing with his friends.
