In loving memory ~
It is with much love, respect, and sadness that we announce the passing of Ila Mildred Nelson on August 12, 2023.
Ila was born August 3, 1933, in Matsqui, B.C., to parents Mariel Elizabeth and Henry Elious Larson. She was the youngest of 7 children and had many wonderful memories to share about growing up with her family. After graduation, Mom worked for Mary Johnson in the Rexall Drug Store in Aldergrove. She met Irving Nelson whom she married in 1956 and they had their only daughter in 1964. In 1965 they settled in Hedley, B.C., where they farmed and became active members of the community. Mom loved playing sports, especially softball and badminton. Even in her senior years, she was a force to be reckoned with when playing badminton. Mom remained on the farm in Hedley until she passed.
Mom is survived by her daughter, Jan (Kelvin) Leake and granddaughter, Cassandra (fiancé Trevor Gonzato) and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was sadly predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Irving; and by her siblings, Robert Larson, Chester Larson, Alvin Larson, Mariel Fitzsimmons, Audrey Fatkin, and Lois Williams.
As per Mom's wishes, there will be no service.
