Do not go to the Princeton Legion to vote on Oct. 15, 2022.
Repeat. Do not go to the Princeton Legion to vote.
For the first time in many years, and many elections, voting with take place at the Princeton and District Community Skills Centre, at 206 Vermilion Ave.
Chief election official Carrie Kassa said the skills centre has more parking, a larger room for polling stations, and a room for election workers to use for breaks.
Lineups formed outside the Legion four years ago, Kassa recalled, and there were many people who were required to register for voting because they were not on the voters list.
Voting at advanced polls, on Wednesday, Oct. 5, will also take place at the skills centre.
Another difference in 2022 will hopefully be the speed with which results are calculated and released, Kassa added.
In 2018, when there were three candidates for mayor and 15 councillor hopefuls, the last council seat was not confirmed until approximately 3 a.m. the following day.
By implementing a different process, Kassa said: “I am confident that we are going to have the count done a lot more quickly this time.”
Also unlike the 2018 election, no preliminary results will be released after the counting begins.
“There will be no previews,” said Kassa.
