Recycle BC is suspending the collection of all glass and foam packaging (white and coloured) until further notice from Recycle BC Depots, including Campbell Mountain Landfill, Oliver Landfill and Keremeos Transfer Station.
The suspension, which takes effect Monday, Nov. 22, is due to the unprecedented flooding and resulting highway closures across British Columbia.
Recycle BC is requesting that, if possible, residents hold on to glass and foam packaging to drop off later, once collection of these materials resumes.

With transportation corridors compromised due to road closures, Recycle BC cannot move these materials from receiving facilities to end markets and, its primary glass end market is currently under water. In addition, the flooding has affected the availability of trucks for hauling materials, further compounding these challenges.
Depots are continuing to collect paper, cardboard, containers (plastic and metal), plastic bags and overwrap, and other flexible plastic packaging. These materials can be baled and stored in a more compact manner at receiving facilities.
The situation is evolving rapidly, and Recycle BC cannot provide a timeline for the temporary suspension. Additional measures may be required as information becomes available.
Those visiting depots should ensure they are placing only clean accepted depot materials in the correct location so they may be recycled accordingly.
