If you raise your eyes while walking around downtown Princeton, you will likely see a nice surprise.

Following the instalment of new street lamps on Bridge Street and Vermilion Avenue, the Town of Princeton has made accommodations for street banners.

At present, the banners on display promote the bronze statue park and the Princeton Posse.

Council recently approved a policy to allow other user groups to take part.

The policy states council will approve all banners before they are placed, and they must meet certain metrics.

Banners promoting events are welcomed for up to two weeks before an occasion.

Banners will not be permitted if they advertise a business or “promote a point of view, or organization of a political or religious nature.”
