Police are looking for the driver of a truck that sheered off a power pole in Cawston and drove away.

Cpl. Brian Evans of the Keremeos police detachment said the incident happened sometime during the early hours of May 28.

“It happened Sunday night to Monday morning on Highway 3 in Cawston. The suspect fled the scene but we recovered evidence at the scene that leads us to believe it is between a ’92 and ’95 Ford F350 Dually,” he said.

Evans said there was damage to the headlight and one of the side mirrors broke off. He noted that paint found at the scene suggest the truck had a poor paint job.

“It looks like black spray paint. What we’re trying to do is encourage anyone that has seen anything like this, that’s noticed damage like I just described to a truck around here to please give us a call,” he said.

Evans said several of the vehicles that were reported stolen several weeks ago have since been recovered but also reminded residents to be diligent to lock their doors and to report anything suspicious.

“There still has been a bit of activity of attempted thefts of trailers and vehicles in the community,” he said.

Evans also reported a shed was broken into on Vanderlinde Drive in Keremeos sometime between June 1 and 2. Stolen were several weedeaters and pruning shears.
