The provincial government is providing rebates for the purchase of new electric bikes starting June 1.
“E-bikes greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and offer a convenient alternative to replacing motor vehicle trips,” according to a statement on the BC Electric Bike Rebate Program website. “By basing the rebate amount on income, we can make e-bikes a clean transportation choice that is more affordable and accessible for everyone.”
B.C. residents earning less than $38,950 annually are eligible for a $1,400 rebate.
Those earning $38,951 to $51,130 can receive $1,000, and residents earning $51,131 and over will see a $350 rebate.
In order to qualify, the website advises not to purchase an e-bike prior to June 1 and an approval email must be issued before a bike can be purchased.
More information can be found on the BC E-bike Rebate website.
