In a 24-hour span, five impaired drivers were taken off the streets of Lake Country.

At a police stop on Glenmore Road, around 60 vehicles were checked. In that span, three impaired drivers were found and taken off the street. Two of them were issued three-day driving prohibitions with their vehicles being impounded for the same time period. The third was handed a 90-day driving ban, with their car being impounded for 30 days.

The two other impaired drivers were found in other parts of the district by officers. One of handed the three-day punishment while the other was handed the 90-day.

These drivers were taken off the road from 11 p.m. on Mar. 31 to 11 p.m. Apr. 1.

“In the last year, more than 80 drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol were removed from our roads as officers continue to keep our roads and community safe,” said Lake Country RCMP watch commander Cpl. Ryder Birtwistle.
