Princeton’s dream of new and permanent pickleball courts is in reach in 2024, thanks in large part to a $25,000 donation from Weyerhaeuser.

“It’s been a four-year journey for the Princeton Pickleball Association (PPA) and we are beyond excited,” said Liz Simpson, PPA vice-president.

In addition to the cash infusion, which came from the mill’s Community Giving Grant fund, Weyerhaeuser has also promised equipment and labour to help build the courts.

Princeton Wood Preservers also recently donated $1,000 to the PPA.

“We are hoping other companies will contribute as well.”

The group also has commitments from the Town of Princeton and the regional district.

Simpson said the group’s leadership will meet with town staff in January to being laying plans for construction.
