It’s been a busy start to summer in Penticton after beloved events like the Peach City Beach Cruise, Penticton Elvis Festival and Ribfest made their returns to the community.

The last two weekends even got Coun. Judy Sentes suggesting that Penticton should be called “The City of Festivals.”

A number of scheduled events in the city from July 8 to 10 will look to keep the momentum going.

Tailgate Roller Skating (July 8)

Let the good times roll on Friday night and join dozens on Penticton’s new skating rink behind City Hall for a pop-up roller skating event.

The Penticton Roller Skate has hosted pop-up events since January but decided to take its act outdoors starting in May.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m., with free use of helmets and roller skates in sizes J10 to 12 men available.

Okanagan Granfondo 2022 Kids’ Piccolofondo (July 9)

Before more than 3,000 cyclists pedal across the South Okanagan in a region-wide bike ride on Sunday, kids aged five to 12 will participate in a stroll of their own starting at Penticton’s Rotary Park.

From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, kids will take part in a 400-metre to five-kilometre ride down around the city’s downtown core.

Participants will receive their very own bike plate and finisher’s medal at the end of the event.

Kenny Hess at Highway 97 Brewing Company (July 9)

Canadian Country Music Hall of Famer Kenny Hess will perform in Penticton on Saturday night at Highway 97 Brewing Company on Ellis Street.

Hess, who once shared the stage with Willie Nelson and Garth Brooks, has promised to perform some of country music’s greatest hits, along with his own tunes as well.

Doors open at 6 p.m.

For tickets, people are asked to call 250-493-0323 or to visit the brewery in advance.

Participants will padel from Penticton to Summerland starting at 6:30 a.m., before heading to south Oliver.

The ride will conclude near Gyro Park in Penticton.

People across the South Okanagan can expect several road closures, as a result of the event.
