Fill Handbags for Hope in Keremeos

The Ladies of the Keremeos Royal Purple are back to help women in need

Once again the Ladies of the Keremeos Royal Purple are back with Handbags for Hope for women in need.

Sponsored by the Lower Similkameen Community Services Society, the Ladies of the Keremeos Royal Purple have partnered with Valley First Credit Union and the Keremeos Information Centre to collect much-needed toiletry type items to fill handbags.

They are looking for new or gently used large handbags in which to put smaller new toiletries such as, soap, shampoo, conditioner, Kleenex, dental floss, deodorant, tampons/pads, lotions, etc. This year they are asking for scarves, toques mittens as it is getting colder out, said Ginny Bennett, past president.

“As we have heard there are also men in need we are asking for toiletries and items suitable for them,” said Bennett.

The Ladies are asking for donations up until Nov. 26.

“We were overwhelmed with the community’s generosity last year and hopefully you will find it in your hearts to donate again this year.”

Last year was a record year in donations, with 72 handbags donated and filled. The Ladies are hoping to be able to do that again this year as the need is just as large this year.

Items may be dropped off at: Valley First Credit Union Mon – Fri 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and at the Keremeos Info Centre Wed – Sat 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
