Community Foundation South Okanagan Similkameen is excited to award 40 Neighbourhood Small Grants throughout the RDOS, including two to residents who live in Princeton, and one for the community of Eastgate.

Neighbourhood Small Grants is based on a simple but powerful idea – that everyone is a valuable member of the community and that we all have something to share.

The $500 grant provides awards for local residents to strengthen their community by bringing people together, sharing skills and knowledge, celebrating diversity, and increasing people’s sense of belonging.

“Neighbours who live in and around Penryn Avenue can look forward to a midway of activities, including a BBQ and dance; while another neighbourhood will work together to landscape and beautify their neighbourhood,” noted Kim English, Regional Development Coordinator at the Community Foundation,

“Eastgate residents held an Emergency Preparedness day on June 15th with over 30 neighbours attending”.

“People are looking for meaningful ways to connect with one another and with a desire to deepen community” said Kim English, “when people feel a sense of connection and belonging to their neighbourhood, they are more likely to be engaged in activities that make their community a better place to live and play”.
