Figure skaters bring home smiles

Alexia Boyd and Hanna Gould travelled to Kelowna January 22nd to compete in the 2011 Okanagan Regional Championships. With their coach Janelle Morcombe by their side, they entered the Preliminary Elements competition and performed a variety of required elements including jumps, spins and spirals. Both girls did amazingly well for their first competition and placed a very respectable 9th and 12th in their division.

Sunday had the skaters return to the rink to show their performance dance.  Hanna was first in their flight to perform her solo and Alexia was the last skater to take the ice.   Despite the nerves, both girls were feeling they skated their hearts out on the ice and made their coach and family proud by both bringing home silver for their performances.

When asked if they had fun, they both replied “Yes!  We can’t wait to go again next year!”.   The skaters would like to thank all the family, friends and neighbours that donated bottles for their fundraising. Thank you to Janelle for convincing them they can do it and for giving your time to join them.
