In need of new direction, provincially and nationally

I am not one who is usually impressed by politicians. I have met provincial and federal leaders, powerful business people and union leaders but they are just people, and people, no matter what side of the fence they sit on, will err as many times as they do something right. They are, for the most part, just like you and me. A week ago I met a politician who actually impressed me. He actually gave me hope.

A lesson about democracy

Stephen Harper deserves credit for teaching Canadians an important lesson about democracy; namely, beware of any campaigning politician who promises open government and fiscal accountability.

Democracy will pay the price

There must be something in the water this year because it seems like everyone and their dog wants to have something to vote on this year. Here in BC we have already had the BC Liberal leadership campaign. With the NDP leadership campaign in full swing we will also have an HST referendum, municipal election and more than likely we will see a provincial election. On top of all that there is now going to be a federal election.

Does the Minister understand?

I read with interest comments that were published recently in your paper by federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz in which he says that the farmers he listened to were opposed to my Bill C-474.

When and why did you stop caring?

David Suzuki is a hero of our planet. He has strived to make modern society see what we have, as well as, what we are losing. Suzuki doesn't just talk the talk. He walks the walk through his show "The Nature of Things," and his amazingly aware children. Suzuki does it all with the grace and compassion of a man who will not rest until he gets through to a few more people.
