What about the residents?

I wonder if Mr. Fitzgerald has actually read the latest copy of the “Frequently Asked Questions” brochure published by the Princeton Aquatic Centre Committee? Or is he relying on Regional Director Hope for his misinformation?

Dear Editor,

I wonder if Mr. Fitzgerald has actually read the latest copy of the “Frequently Asked Questions” brochure published by the Princeton Aquatic Centre Committee?  Or is he relying on Regional Director Hope for his misinformation?  It is my understanding that our Area H Director Mr. Brad Hope has been using the Aquatic Centre as his political platform for the upcoming election and part of that has been riling up all the rural non-residents with nonsense about their roads and other unrelated issues.  Mr. Hope should let the Aquatic Centre Committee do their job.

Since when is he more qualified to spew numbers than the people who do it for a living?  How many major community developments have you managed Mr. Hope?  Are you a general contractor?  A certified general accountant?  A financial consultant?  Where lies your expertise?

This referendum was not supposed to be about politicians, but rather about a community - remember that Mr. Hope?  So while you are out bashing the referendum (which you sat down and helped decide upon) and grandstanding for votes, maybe just maybe you could listen to the rural residents who contribute to this community every day.  They would be furious if anyone told them they were not a part of Princeton.

The rural year round residents contribute immensely to the economy of Princeton and don’t just come on the weekend to tear up the trails and toss garbage around while dropping a few dollars at Coopers.  They spend in Princeton every day of the year.  It is time someone advocated for families and our rural residents who live here all year round.  They are the ones fixing the trails, finding grants, and in general beautifying OUR town.

Mr. Hope - YOU are so out of touch with your constituents that it isn’t even funny.  You are the ONLY Regional Director on the Okanagan Similkameen Regional Board who has NO advisory committee, but rather is running his riding as a ONE MAN show.  The tap dancing is getting boring and is highly over-rated Mr. Hope.  Part of your political platform last time around focused on your plan for an advisory committee, but I guess you decided that it is harder to push things through when others are watching.

Our previous premier talked out of both sides of his mouth too.  Respect must be earned and that is sadly lacking.  I for one HOPE your show will soon be coming to an end.  You have never let true democracy be a part of this process.  You are a fake - the worst kind of politician.

You have done everything in your power to hang the Aquatic Centre Committee out to dry.  Princeton deserves better and so do those hard working individuals on that committee.  Democracy is a Canadian value which you Mr. Hope have forgotten about.  If Princeton doesn’t want a pool fine, but let the people decide based on facts NOT back room propaganda.  Your secret little meetings are really not so secret.  Your attempts to woo the non-residents with double talk at the expense of those who once supported you are lame and will be part of your final act.  Good-bye Mr. Hope and good riddance!

A seriously mad Area H resident
