Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the Upper Similkameen Spirit Festival. It was colourful, action-packed and – yes – noisy, and thoroughly enjoyable.
Besides the amazing energy of the dancers, I was very impressed with the appearance and demeanor of the teenaged and younger girls. From their shiny, neatly-braided hair to their feet clad in traditional footwear, they were so graceful as they danced, and so serene and dignified when they were waiting their turn to perform. It was a joy to spend the afternoon and evening in their presence.
My thanks to all who organized and presented this festival.
