NIKIC, Ruza ‘Rosi’

February 8, 1942 – November 11, 2010


After a courageous battle with cancer Rosi Nikic, a long-time resident of Princeton, BC., passed away peacefully on Remembrance Day, surrounded by family.

Rosi was born in Kijevo, Bosnia I Hercegovina in 1942, married in 1957 and resided in Croatia until she immigrated to Canada with her husband & 5 children in 1975. Rosi worked as a cook at Billy’s Family Restaurant for 33 years until retiring in 2007. She loved to cook, bake, knit, garden and share precious moments with her family & friends. Rosi touched the lives of many through her gourmet meals, her baked goods and her handmade slippers. Sadly, Rosi was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Petar Nikic,

her mother Fabiola Maric and her sister Katie Grgich.

She will be forever loved and remembered by her beloved children; Tony Nikic (Rita Jordison), Vera Hilario (Joe), Mira Nikic (Jack Morgahdino), Mark Nikic (Debbie Schatz) and Katica Nikic and her treasured grandchildren; Candace Nikic, Christine Nikic, Petar Nikic, Amanda Hilario, Matthew Hilario, Thomas Hilario, Ashley McKenzie, Katelyn McKenzie, Riley Nikic, along with other family & numerous friends.

Family & friends were invited to attend the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 15, 2010 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Fr. Ronnie Tagnines, Fr. Rex Velmonte & Fr. Fred for a beautiful service, Agnes & Janet for the music, Ed Goudreau & the ladies from St. Peter’s Parish for all their help with the reception. A special thank you to her attending physicians, Dr. Adams of Princeton & Dr. Calder of Osoyoos, the South Okanagan Home Care Support workers, medical staff at Kelowna & Penticton Cancer Agency, all the Doctor’s & Nurses at Kelowna, Penticton & Oliver General Hospital, and to the dedicated staff at the Palliative Care Center at Oliver General Hospital – your kindness & assistance will never be forgotten. A heartfelt thank you to Abe, Mona & Ernie Willis for all their hard work on the farm, Lena Mazzarella, Jeannine Kassa, Louie Grgich, Melody Hope, Huey, Brian & Pat Birmingham for all the support & assistance you offered Rosi over the last year.
