Aiken, (Nee Somerfeld) Rosemary (Rose) Anita Ursula

July 20, 1964 - September 28, 2012

In August of 2011, Rose Aiken underwent a double lung transplant. She was unable to recover from the post surgery complications and passed away on September 28, 2012.

Rose was born to Willi and Waltraud Somerfeld in North Vancouver BC. Rose as she was called by most, was raised and educated in North Vancouver graduating in 1983 from Argyle Secondary School. She worked at Expo 86 as a greeter, was first married and gave life to Anthony in 1987 and then Charmaine in 1989. Her first marriage ended in 1991 and she met the love of her life, Wally that same year.

Wally and Rose were married in 1994 and through their union, Rose inherited her second daughter Kristen. Through both her daughters she became a three time grandma. She loved her grand-babies very much.

Rose loved the outdoors and camping with campfire being her favourite activity. She was very involved in helping others. She was active in the Royal Purple, her church, BC Emergency Social Services and the Princeton and District Crisis Assistance Society.

Rose is predeceased by her sister-in-law Arlene Heppner, father Willi Somerfeld, father-in-law Earl Driver, niece Shayla Driver and by her very special aunt and uncle, Randi and Neil Gough.

Rose leaves behind her loving husband of 18 years, Walter (Wally) Aiken, daughter, Kristin and her children; Zackery & Clarissa Aiken, daughter Charmaine and her son Leyham Aiken, all of Princeton BC, and by her son, Anthony Aiken of Penticton BC. Rose is also survived by; her mother Waltraud (Trudy) Somerfeld, of North Vancouver, mother-in-law Doris Driver of Princeton BC, her brothers; Willi & Phil Somerfeld, sisters; Barb Somerfeld, Sabrina and her children; Emma, Naomi, Little Willi & Sophia MacKay, all of North Vancouver BC, her sister-in-law Pearl and her children; Orion, Leigha & Travis Driver, brothers-in-law; Cyril and Larry Driver all of Princeton, BC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends.

A Celebration of Life was held on October 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., in the Living Water Foursquare Church with Pastor Bob Stewart officiating.
