With much sadness we mark the passing of a friend, a mentor, a logger, a grandpa, a great grandpa, and a great dad. R.A. leaves a long long list of achievements by a truly remarkable and decent gentle man. Bob said goodbye on January 25, 2021 a mere month after reaching the young age of 90.
The places, the people, the equipment, the challenges of his long logging career would be much to describe. Suffice to say R.A. made many friends, mentored many in his field and spent much time involved with the Interior Logging Association. He was a respected and remembered President of that group. Flags flying at half-mast at Weyerhaeuser/Princeton say much about his stature in the logging industry.
The love of his whole life, Neen, worked for many years at his side. Keeping the finances on track, cooking for the crew, raising two remarkable boys (Mac and Jim) and so many other contributions to the great man and to their lifetime together.
He is also warmly remembered for his cowboy streak no more evident than when he chased a steer with his head rope held high. The Rodeo Club of Princeton (The Bob Lind Arena) owes much to his dedication, support, and hard work on its behalf.
To say Bob loved the mountains around Princeton is to say little about how he truly cherished the high country. To visit Palmer Pond, Whitecloud, Paradise Valley, Myra's Camp to name a few spots, was his passion and joy. All within reach from the cabin on Podnuk Creek built (1965) with love and sweat by Bob and his pals of those bygone days. The cabin has been lovingly maintained by him, his sons and grandsons, and many friends to this day.
He last visited the cabin in September of 2020 and the visual of that moment is vivid: Bob playing his harmonica as he stared out the cabin window smiling as he wandered down along memory lane.
Bob was loved and is survived by Neen, his wife of 68 years, and his son Jim (Wendy). He leaves behind his grandsons Gary (Elly), Reid (Shelby) and Shaun and his granddaughter Courtney (Rob). Brother Roy, sister Judy (Wayne) and sister-in-law Isabel also survive him. He was blessed to have great granddaughters Aniella, Cheyenne, Sienna, Addison, Sawyer, and Kennedy.
Gone before him are baby son Gary, grandson Kristofer, and son Mac. Also gone on before are his brothers Jim, George, Evert, and Don, and his sister Anna.
We will honour Bob when we can gather together again. For now, his family thanks you for your kindness and good wishes. In memory, cherish you memory of time spent with Bob Lind.
