August 30, 1935 - February 27, 2023
George Truax, 87, of Hope BC, passed away suddenly on February 27, 2023. George was born on August 30, 1935 to Austen & Annie Truax in Princeton BC.
After spending his formative years in Copper Mountain skiing and "tearing around", George settled in Hope where he lived happily with his wife Val for 58 years.

George spent most of his working life with the Department of Transportation & Highways, especially proud of his position as a project supervisor in the construction of the Coquihalla Highway. He retired in 1995.

In his earlier years George was one of the founding members of the Silver Tip ski hill/club where he and his family enjoyed many winters working and skiing. He was very active with minor softball and figure skating. In his retirement years he enjoyed tinkering in his shop "making sawdust", creating "folk" furniture and fixing things for himself and neighbours. He also enjoyed rebuilding/driving his TR3 in his '60s.

George was an amazing Grandpa, active to the end, chopping wood, walking daily & much more. He and his wife loved dining and dancing at the Copper Room, Harrison Hot Springs Resort. He was ready to go again soon!

George is survived by his wife Val; three children Graham, Wayne, and Dawn; five grandchildren, Theo, Alexander, Ayanna, Maeve, and Frida; sister Marilyn (Bob); nieces & nephews, and countless other cherished family members.

A celebration of life is planned for May 20th, 1 pm at the Eagles Hall in Hope. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Fraser Canyon Hospital.

Our family extends a big THANK YOU to our many kind friends for their help during this sad time.
