After going viral on TikTok, a Vernon woman is launching a podcast to give listeners a view behind the screen.

Elle James, better known as Shameless Elle, has amassed nearly one million followers on TikTok and Instagram combined. A rising star in the social media world who is now in the top four per cent of content creators on TikTok, James continues to grow as an influencer.

With her face now out there on social media, James is getting behind the mic. She launched her podcast, Oversharing with Shameless Elle, on Thursday, May 18. The podcast features James’ colourful and relatable stories, as well as the stories of other content creators around the world. From their beginnings to their secrets, Shameless Elle promises to get guests ‘oversharing.’

To find the podcast, search ‘Oversharing with Shameless Elle’ wherever you get your podcasts.

James originally joined many other Millennials in creating videos out of boredom during the pandemic in 2020.

What began as an outlet for James to escape the monotony of lockdown became a success story; her TikTok account garnered the attention of many A-list celebrities, including basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal, who sent her children MacBooks after she made an off-the-cuff reaction to one of his videos.

James is well known for her video reactions, but also uses her platform to share stories, including embarrassing ones about her life, in a comical fashion that people can relate to. From stories as a working professional, a mother, or her adventures navigating the dating world, James’ content brings laughter to many while serving as an inspiration to other content creators out there.

“The weirder I was, the more people seemed to like it,” said James. “Perhaps people found me relatable, maybe I just brought them a laugh, but whatever the reason may be, it enabled me to let go of any insecurities I felt and allowed me to be my most shameless self.”

It might be surprising to anyone who has seen her content, but James grew up as a very shy child with low self-esteem. The last three years has brought her a level of confidence — and shamelessness — she may never have achieved without TikTok.

“I realized ‘perfect’ was the opposite of what people on social media loved about me. And so here I am, three years later, messy, unfiltered and the happiest I’ve ever been,” she said.

James’ content can be found on TikTok (shamelesselle) and Instagram (@shamelesselle).
