The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen has approved upgrades to the Oliver landfill and the Keremeos transfer station scale house and scale.
The contract, for $311,991.03, was awarded to Greyback Construction Ltd.
Greyback’s bid was the lowest of two tenders received.
The upgrades are needed because the scale house at the Oliver landfill no longer serves the needs of the landfill staff. The existing scale house has received repairs in recent years and service technicians are no longer able to effectively perform further repairs.
A larger scale is needed to accommodate an increase in truck and trailer traffic at the facility.
The Keremeos scale house was installed 10 years ago. It had previously been used at another landfill within the regional district.
The scale house will be replaced with the scale house from Oliver, which regional district staff say is in significantly better condition.
