UPDATE: School buses evacuated after ‘minor’ collision on Highway 1 west of Salmon Arm

UPDATE: 4:53 p.m., Monday, Nov. 20

School District 83 said no serious or even minor injuries have been reported as a result of a collision involving two school buses west of Salmon Arm.

In a Nov. 20 media release, the school district said around 4 p.m., the Lizard and Deer school buses were involved in a “minor rear-end collision” near the intersection of 50th Avenue and Highway 1.

“None of the students on board the bus at the time of the accident were seriously injured, but at this time it is unknown if there are any minor injuries,” said the school district.

Emergency responders arrived quickly on the scene and additional buses were dispatched to transport the students home.

“The safety of our students is always our top priority and SD83 wanted to ensure you had this information,” said the school district, adding further updates will be provided if necessary.

First responders are at the scene of a collision involving two school buses on Highway 1 west of Salmon Arm.

The incident occurred near Pierre’s Point Road late Monday afternoon, Nov. 20. Students were evacuated from the buses.
