A donation from an area winery will ensure students at Oliver Elementary School can continue to eat healthy.

Earlier this week, Hester Creek Estate Winery donated $11,000 to the school for its Farm to School Salad Bar program.

The salad bar program offers nutritious options for students twice a week for the majority of the year.

“We are thrilled to support our community with sustainable food practices, while nourishing the local youth of today. Sustainability is one of our core values, and a commitment to sustainability means more than supporting locals now, it’s also about supporting the next generation that will keep agricultural traditions of our small town healthy,” Mark Sheridan president of Hester Creek Estate Winery said.

Hester Creek has had a partnership with the Oliver School since 2012. In those five years the winery has donated more than $60,000 to the school.
