Town council wants more information before it agrees to appoint a representative to work with Princeton Crisis Assistance Society.
A written request by the society’s Jenny Pateman to assign councillor Kim Maynard as a liaison was recommend by staff at Monday’s meeting. A motion to approve was defeated and the issue tabled, pending a meeting between councillors and the society’s executive.
Mayor Frank Armitage noted council has never had a liaison with the society.
“I’d just like to get some input,” he said.
He stated the meeting would also allow staff to address a recent request from the society for a reduction in rent for their thrift store.
“Let’s get that business cleaned up,” he said.
The society pays $448.25 per month for the building, which in 2017 represented nearly 40 per cent of the revenue generated by store’s sales. Councillor Doug Pateman declared a conflict of interest.
