The Town of Princeton is offering a temporary contract for a manager to fill the role of Chief Financial Officer.

According to Mayor Frank Armitage an agreement is in place with a professional from Chilliwack, who is expected to work for the municipality until March.

The town has been without a CFO since Shirley McMahon left the post in early August to work for the City of Fernie.

The position was advertised twice and twice the town had an acceptable candidate who agreed to take the job, the mayor said.

Armitage said both candidates had to eventually decline the position for personal reasons.

The municipality is offering “compensation that is competitive,” said Armitage.

In 2016 McMahon earned $91,298.

Princeton CAO Rick Zerr said the town can’t begin the 2018 budget and audit season without a CPA on staff. The contract CFO will assume her duties later this month.
