Three vehicles involved in icy road crash on Friday

On February 4, 2011, at approximately 8:00 a.m. three vehicles were involved in a serious injury motor vehicle collision on Highway 3 east of Hedley B.C.

On February 4, 2011, at approximately 8:00 a.m. three vehicles were involved in a serious injury motor vehicle collision on Highway 3 east of Hedley B.C.

A westbound Pontiac Sedan rounded a curve and immediately encountered extremely icy conditions. The Pontiac slid head on into an eastbound Honda mini-van. The male occupant of the Pontiac, a resident of Grand Forks, B.C., sustained life threatening injuries and was air evacuated to Kelowna General Hospital. Two adult occupants of the Honda, residents of Hedley, B.C., sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Penticton Regional Hospital by ambulance.

While the two vehicles were at rest in the middle of the highway a third vehicle, a Nissan mini-van collided with them. The two occupants of this vehicle were uninjured. These occupants were residents of Keremeos, B.C.

Due to the sudden change in road conditions charges are not anticipated.
