Summerland’s construction activity in October was lower than during the same month a year earlier, but the total construction value of permits issued for the year so far is higher than by this point in 2020.

The October 2021 building permit statistics are higher than the same month in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In October 2019, 10 permits with a value of $859,000 were issued.
Since January, Summerland has issued a total of 174 building permits, with a total construction value of $54,146,300. From January to October 2020, 149 building permits with a value of $27,610,600 were issued.
The high value of permits in 2021 comes because of a single permit for the Oasis development on Lakeshore Drive, issued in August. That one permit had a total construction value of $23,582,000. It is for a three-building mixed-use residential-commercial development.
