South Okanagan RCMP take down serious offender

Oliver RCMP, police dogs and Targeted Enforcement Unit come together for arrest

The RCMP have arrested a South Okanagan man, Simon Bell, who was wanted on a number of serious charges.

“Mr. Bell has been a priority offender in the region for some time, and tremendous efforts have been taken to prevent him from causing further harm to the community,” said Cst. James Grandy.

On Aug. 1, Oliver RCMP attempted to locate and arrest Simon Bell on an outstanding warrant. Bell was spotted driving a burgundy Ford F-350 that was reported stolen earlier that day.

When they moved in to arrest him, Bell put the truck in gear and backed up, striking an officer’s hand and arm.

Bell was finally arrested on Aug. 3 when officers with the Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen Regional RCMP Detachment’s Targeted Enforcement Unit, Oliver RCMP and police dog services, located and arrested Bell in Oliver. He was taken into custody without issue and faces numerous charges.
