Princeton’s community newspaper, the Similkameen Spotlight, was honoured May 14 at the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association awards in Richmond.
Publisher Andrea DeMeer was named top columnist. Her entries described a friendly relationship with Walter Gretzky, and the aftermath of the 2021 flood.
DeMeer also received a bronze award for spot news photography.
Brennan Phillips, reporter at the Penticton Western News and lead journalist for the Keremeos Review, was named New Journalist of the Year. That award came with a $1,000 prize.
