Salmon Arm RCMP removed a local woman from the road after she admitted to having liquor on her lunch break.

At 7 p.m. on Jan. 28, an officer noticed a grey Dodge Caliber having trouble staying in its lane and accelerating to 108 kilometres an hour in an 80 km/h zone, and conducted a traffic stop where the 56-year-old female driver said she was on her way to work.

The officer, however, could smell alcohol and noted an open beer can half full in the centre console and administered a roadside screening device that resulted in two "fail" readings.

"The woman later admitted to consuming several beers, and a shot of fireball on her 'lunch break' before heading back to work," Const. Andrew Hodges said in a media release.

As a result of her liquid lunch, the woman received a 90-day driving prohibition and had her vehicle impounded for 30 days. The matter has been referred to RoadSafetyBC.
