The suspect in a robbery was apprehended by RCMP from Penticton and Summerland.

Const. James Grandy said RCMP arrested David Case on Sept. 2 on robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police charges.

“On Sept. 2, RCMP received information of a man camping out in a forested region in west Summerland. Officers, believing it may be the accused, searched the area and subsequently were successful in arresting Case. The stolen vehicle was nearby,” said Grandy in a news release.

On Aug. 26, Mounties were called to investigate a report of a theft of a vehicle, involving an assault of the owner. Case, who was known to the victim, allegedly forced his way into the victim’s vehicle — assaulting him in the process.

Later that day officers spotted the stolen vehicle travelling north on Highway 97 toward Summerland. Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the driver continued on at a Highgate of speed. Grandy said due to the danger posed to other motorists, police discontinued the pursuit.

RCMP then received the tip on Sept. 2 leading to Case’s arrest and he subsequently was held in custody.
