Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen to pick up large unwanted items

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen will pick up refrigerators, freezers, furniture, mattresses and other large appliances during its 2022 large item collection program in April.

The large item collection is part of local government Curbside Collection Programs in Penticton, Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos, and in rural regional districts Electoral Areas A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and I.

Those in the affected areas may place up to two large items for pickup on their regular day of curbside recycling and garbage collection.

Acceptable items include furniture, large appliances (no hot water tanks), mattresses, gym equipment and barbeques. Hot water tanks are not accepted, and barbecue hoses, tanks and dripping trays with oil must be removed. Refrigerators and freezers must not contain food.

Building materials, kitchen and bathroom cabinets or fixtures, doors, toilets, electronics, carpets, gas-powered or battery-powered equipment, concrete blocks, hot tubs and lids and other related materials are not accepted. Any item weighing more than 90 kilograms will not be accepted for collection.
