The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is increasing its fees for building permits and construction valuations.

The fees have been unchanged for several years and the increases are needed in order to recover costs and align with market values, reads a statement from the RDOS.

Non-refundable application fees will be $175 or $550, depending on the construction value. This is an increase from $150 or $500 charged in the past.

The administrative fee for each permit will be $25 and the flat rate for a swimming pool permit is $500.

Plumbing permits will be $175, plus $12 per fixture, up from $100 and $10 per fixture. Solid fuel appliance fees will rise to $175 from $100.

The re-inspection fee will rise to $125 from $100 and the health and safety inspection for temporary use permits will rise to $200 from $100.

The permit transfer fee will be $125 and the permit extension fee will be $150. Both had been $100 in the past.

Scaled permit fees have also been adjusted, and other costs have been increased to align with market value.

The regional district board reviews the fees and charges each year in order to reflect cost recovery for the services and information it provides.
