Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen grants tax exemptions

16 organizations receive more than $44,000 in property tax relief

Non-profit organizations within the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen have been granted property tax exemptions.

The exemptions were granted during the regional district board’s regular meeting on Oct. 21.

A total of 16 organizations from around the regional district have applied for exemptions. In 2021, the estimated tax exemptions were $45,005. In 2022, the estimated tax exemptions come to $44,235.

The organizations include sporting associations, golf clubs, museums, the Natures Trust, the Okanagan Falls United Church, South Skaha Housing Society and others.

In the past, the board has examined the benefits each group provides to the community. Golf courses are partial exemptions to offset the public access portions of their fees.
