The Keremeos RCMP are investigating a theft of cash at the Keremeos volunteer fire department.

Cpl. Brian Evans of the RCMP detachment said the theft was reported on Feb. 22 and involved someone taking several hundred dollars.

The Review requested information just after the theft occurred but was told by RCMP a report could impede the investigation. Evans declined to comment if RCMP had identified a suspect in the theft.

“We are investigating a report of a theft of money from the fire hall,” Evans said.

“We’re well into the investigation. The investigation is progressing and it’s moving in a positive direction.”
