Water and sewer rates in Princeton will increase by 2 per cent in 2018.

Council gave three readings to a bylaw setting the new rates at a meeting last week.

Residential water rates are $310.85 for the year, and residential sewer rates are 143.90 with the prompt payment discount.

Janice Aver, interim director of finance, said the increases cover hikes in operating costs including wages.

Council received a report that indicated Princeton has the lowest sewer rates of other communities in the region, and the second lowest water rates, next to Keremeos.
