RCMP responded quickly Friday night to a report of road rage possibly involving a gun.
According to Sergeant Robert Hughes a driver phoned police and said a vehicle was involved in tailgating and passing, and that someone flashed a gun.
Four officers - two from Princeton and two members from South Okanagan traffic division - stopped the car on Highway 3 near Burton Avenue.
No weapon was found.
“We determined there was no evidence to support the allegation,” said Hughes.
The incident occurred about 7:30 p.m.
“Public safety and police safety is our primary concern when we do a high risk traffic stop.
“There are protocols and procedures…everything was done by the book.”
Hughes said every traffic stop contains an element of risk.
Factors can include location, time of day, and proximity of back up, he said.
“There is no such thing as a routine traffic stop. Every traffic stop we deal with is unique in its own rights and it’s always a unique recipe for what we do when we stop a vehicle.”
