Princeton volunteers on their way to assist a man in medical distress, who later died, rolled their vehicle and sustained minor injuries January 19.
The Princeton Highway Rescue truck was damaged, according the group’s president Trevor Sutton.
According to RCMP Corporal Chad Parsons the accident occurred about 12:45 p.m.
Road rescue was responding to assist with a medical call near Hembry Mountain Road.
A 55-year-old snowmobiler, a resident of the Lower Mainland, was suffering cardiac arrest.
As the rescue workers neared the scene they slid off the road, which was ice and snow covered, and rolled over an embankment, said Parsons
Princeton Ground Search and Rescue attended to help the road rescue crew.
An air ambulance from Kamloops was dispatched to the mountain, however the victim could not be revived.
The damaged road rescue vehicle was purchased in 2013 after a five year fundraising campaign.
The vehicle, a Ford F-550, cost $134,000.
One of the major sponsors of the purchase was the Princeton Hospital Auxiliary.
The Princeton Highway Rescue release said that Keremeos and Hope rescue crews will extend their boundaries to cover the area until further notice.
