Plans to built an outdoor social pavilion at the downtown location of the once-controversial Bugnut building that was demolished earlier this year have been put off to the spring, according to parks and recreation director Lyle Thomas.
“We have conceptual drawings and we actually put it out for tender, or we asked for requests for proposals, and all of the people that responded said they needed more information on the foundation and other things so we actually sent it back to the architect to try and come up with some detailed drawings.”
As the process dragged out, Thomas said “we decided to put this over to next year.”
The town has been communicating with two local contractors, he added.
“We continue to get feedback on the proposal and that feedback is very important…We will probably revisit this by way of asking for further comment in the spring before we finalize.”
