The burden of post-secondary finances has been slightly lifted for 430 students across the Interior.

$1,000 each was put in students’ pockets by the Interior Savings Million Dollar Bursary program, which has handed out over $4.6 million since 2014.

“The $1,000 award not only gives these young members a helping hand with tuition, it also provides an opportunity for them to build financial literacy as they learn about budgeting, building credit, and saving for the future,” said Brian Harris, CEO at Interior Savings.

The Kelowna area was the largest recipient, with 176 students receiving bursaries. 31 West Kelowna students were awarded, as well as 16 from Penticton, 12 from Vernon and 8 from Oliver/Okanagan Falls.

Students ages 17-24 are encouraged to already sign up to be eligible for September’s round of grants,
