Princeton Hospital emergency department is tentatively closed April 9, 16, 25 and 30, adding to a long list of service interruptions in the past months.

People must travel to Penticton or another city for treatment during this time, no matter how bad their condition is.

The emergency department will also be in "LLTO" (life, limb, threatened organ) status for many dates in April.

Patients whose life is in danger or who are at risk of losing a limb will be seen by a doctor while the hospital is in LLTO status.

During the hours the emergency department is closed, residents should call 911 in an emergency. For non-urgent matters, residents can use the emergency department in Penticton.

If anyone is unsure about what services they require, call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1. The toll-free line provides 24-hour, confidential health information and advice from a registered nurse.
