The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen (RDOS) is looking to Princeton and Keremeos residents to provide feedback on parks and recreation.

As part of the RDOS’ work on the new parks, trails and recreation master plan, sounding boards have been set up in Keremeos and Princeton for residents to give their input on what they’d like to see.

The plan is intended to guide future planning and investments into parks, trails and other recreation activities in the region for the next decade.

So far, much of the feedback has been gathered from the Penticton area, and the RDOS is looking to receive more from residents in Keremeos, Princeton and Tulameen to get a more rounded idea of what the plan should look like.

There are multiple ways for residents in those areas to provide feedback, including an online survey and interactive mapping tool available on the RDOS Regional Connections webpage.

The interactive map allows users to drag and drop select category pins, see and submit comments, and identify areas for future recreational use. All suggestions will be compiled as part of the engagement process.

The plan and feedback opportunities are available online at rdosregionalconnections.ca/ptr-master-plan. The web page includes a video about the project, an online survey and the dates and locations of roving kiosks and sounding boards.

The RDOS has also set up multiple sounding boards in communities in the region for residents to leave their feedback in person. Due to COVID-19, the RDOS asks residents to bring their own pens to write directly on the boards.

The boards will be set up until May 12 at the KVR Trail and Princeton Gateway in the Princeton area, and at the Similkameen Recreation Centre for the Similkameen Valley. From May 14 to May 26 at the Tulameen Fire Hall for residents in the Princeton area and in Kobau Park for residents of the Similkameen Valley to provide feedback.
