UPDATE: Emergency crews rescue injured biker

A woman hurt her shoulder on Crawford trails

Update 8:30 a.m.

Emergency crews and Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) safely transported an injured mountain biker to an awaiting ambulance at approximately 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

The woman was biking with a group on Vapour along Crawford Trails in Kelowna when she injured her shoulder.

The incident happened at around 8 p.m. when her fellow cyclers called 911.

Fire, ambulance, and COSAR came to assist in the rescue, using a gator to transport the woman to the ambulance where she was taken to the hospital.

There are no reports on the woman’s recovery.

At just after 8pm tonight, Central Okanagan Search and Rescue was called out to assist Kelowna Fire Department and B.C. Ambulance rescue an injured mountain biker on Vapour in Crawford Trails. The subject had injured her shoulder while on a group ride. Her group did everything right. In particular they recognized that she was going to need assistance and called 911 immediately. Members of COSAR’s bike team reached the subject approximately 1 hour after the initial call to 911 was placed. The team assessed and managed the subject’s injury and coordinated a plan for extraction with KFD. KFD, and B.C. Ambulance, used KFD’s Gator to reach the COSAR members and subject. The subject was then transported down the trail and transferred to a waiting ambulance at approximately 10:30pm. Emergency crews are responding to a possible injured mountain biker in the Crawford trails area.

Crews were called to the Myra Bellevue Park about 8:40 p.m., Tuesday, after reports of someone in distress.

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue have been called in for support.

It’s unclear severity of the injuries of the victim.

Firefighters are responding with a gator to get to the area to extract the mountain biker from the scene.
