Prepare for a wave of heat to hit the Okanagan and Shuswap over the next few days.

According to Environment Canada temperatures will be in the low-to-mid 30s C, in both the Central, South and North Okanagan.

Expect the mercury to reach the high 20s to low 30s C in the Shuswap.

The clear sunny skies will bring a high UV index of 7 or more to the valley, so be sure to slap on the sunscreen if you’re headed outdoors.

For Monday, winds are anticipated to pick up in the afternoon gusting to 20 kilometres an hour in the Central and South Okanagan; while in the North, winds could hit speeds of 40 km/hr.

Light wind will continue into Tuesday, along with a highs of 30 C.

Those in the Shuswap who are still picking up the pieces from Sunday night’s wind storm, will be happy to find out Environment Canada is not forecasting any major wind events for the area.

The overnight lows will hover around 15 C.

Be sure to check Environment Canada for weather statements that might be put into affect if the temperatures increase.
